EMETTE RIVERA, FORM AND FUNCTION.

Emette Rivera has genuine respect for the wood he is about to cut into. He knows that his skills as a master craftsman will allow him to take the piece in the direction he wants. But he is also mindful that in the end the wood itself  will dictate its own final appearance.

When Emette designs and builds unique furniture pieces, he carefully considers how the owner will live with the object. His chairs have a smoothness which cradles the human body. His table lamps are utilitarian and sculptural. But his small bowls, fashioned from hefty chunks of walnut and cherry are among his most appealing works. These pieces tell their own unique stories.

Emette is partners with Donna Pungprechawat in Remade Studios. The studio is quintessential Frogtown. Located on Pirtle Alley, his neighbors include other wood and metal craftsmen, a shop that repairs car bumpers, a bus company, an electrical contractor, and a painter.

Emette is currently building the prototype for a new collapsible chair.  True to form, it will be both functional and a work of art.  Remade Studios will be open during  the annual Frogtown Artwalk.
